Xtrainerz, Titanium, Aeropex, Air, Openmove, and Opencomm. But last week, I decided to use Aftershokz Aeropex Mini to write a review for you. The reason behind it was the word “mini.” I was curious about it.
Since last week I have been using them for almost all my physical activities, so I know all the positives and drawbacks of these headphones.
So, this Aftershokz Aeropex Mini Review aims to inform you everything about these headphones. After reading this post, I am sure you will be clear about your decision to buy or skip. Also, I have two other suggestions for certain scenarios.

Aftershokz Aeropex Mini Review
You might have heard about the AfterShokz Aeropex if you have recently researched bone conduction headphones. Since their release, these headphones have had the reputation of being the best bone conduction headphones on the market. As far as the Aeropex Mini and Aeropex are concerned, there is no such difference between the two.

Design and Fit
These have a smaller band compared to Aeropex. It is just a half-inch shorter. That’s all; there is no other difference in size. Despite this, you might not fully comprehend how much of an impact the smaller band has on overall fit. The Aeropex Mini is an excellent choice for me because of my baldness, making it impossible to fill the extra space left by many other AfterShokz headphones, making it the ideal replacement. Compared to the previous model, the fit is much closer-fitting.
It is evident that you will need to know what size you need to purchase the right product. It’s a great thing AfterShokz has put together a guide that will help you through the process of figuring this out. It is probably best to purchase the full size if you have a large head, lots of hair, or a very large or fat head. Nevertheless, the Mini is a terrific option if you have a smaller head, not much hair, or if you are a child with short hair.
Colors
For the Aeropex Mini, only one color is available at the moment. On the other hand, four colors are available for the Aeropex regulars: red, grey, blue, and black. It is a significant negative point, but you know black color is universal, and most people like it. However, there could be various colors.
Buttons and Options
The layout of the headphones is standard and familiar. On the left side is a multifunction button. So, most left-handed people will be happy. On the right-hand side are the volume+ and volume- buttons with a charging port behind the ear hook. Here right- handed people will appreciate it.
Charging
In contrast to other AfterShokz that charge via USB, the Aeropex uses a proprietary magnetic charger. In my opinion, they did this in order to get better waterproofing and a higher IP rating (IP67). However, some consumers may find it inconvenient. One of the reasons is it is not standard like micro USB and USB Type-C. Be careful not to lose the cable!
Sound Quality
Before moving further, it is essential to understand that one thing about bone conduction headphones is that they don’t sound as good as earbuds or headphones. The reason is their open-air design. Nevertheless, they aren’t bad either. The Mini headphones have one of the best sounds out of all the bone conduction headphones I have tried.
However, you will have to be careful not to get too excited about this. A bone conduction system, for example, does not deliver a defined low end. Their focus is heavier on the middle range that covers the broadest range of frequencies.
EQ settings and earplugs effects
There are two EQ profiles on the Aftershokz Aeropex minis, and the default one is designed to pump as much bass into open-ear as possible to ensure the overall experience is as good as possible. When worn with earplugs, the sound is like pure mud.
You can change your EQ profile easily. You just have to press the volume+ and volume- buttons simultaneously for approximately 3-seconds. It will only work while music is playing, so keep the volume high to know if the EQ profile is changed.
In any case, you can use either EQ whenever you like. In the end, there is no right or wrong answer. Your preference is all that matters.
Honestly, I don’t change my AfterShokz audio profiles very often since I always use them as open-ear headphones. However, it is just me who thinks that way. Sometimes you want earplugs with bone conduction and headphones that can be used for all purposes. It might be better to choose OpenMove in this case.
Calling Quality
I really enjoyed the Aeropex mini while calling and I don’t have any complaints from my listeners. In my opinion, the ability to talk on the phone without clogging up your ears is a huge win for those who are seeking a better way to talk on the phone.
However, according to my observations, if you are looking for better call quality, you might prefer the OpenComm, which is similar to the Aeropex mini, with the exception that it comes with a boom mic.
Conclusion
Overall, if you are looking for EQ settings, earplugs, and waterproofing, you should definitely consider Aftershokz Aeropex mini. However, the selling point of these headphones is their tight-fitting. So, if you have a small head go for it, but if you have a large head, Aeropex regular is the ideal choice.
